Continuing professional development

Under the Board's CPD program contained in Schedule 5 of the accreditation scheme, each year certifiers must undertake:

  • two courses that are approved by the Board - Accredited Certifiers: Legislative Requirements and Accredited Certifiers: Professional Practice, and
  • training or education in areas of their technical speciality that is relevant to their category(s) of accreditation.

The Board's courses are mandatory for all accredited certifiers.

Professional Practice course - 2009

All accredited certifiers will be required to complete training on ethics in relation to their role as accredited certifiers as part of the Board's 2009 continuing professional development program. The course will be one day in length, commencing in July.

For information on the course go to flyer

Legislative Requirements course - 2009

The Accredited Certifiers: Legislative Requirements CPD course is held each year to update certifiers on the legislation that has commenced or is due to be introduced to the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and the Building Professionals Act 2005 over the course of the year.

Legislative changes this year have, in the most part, been confined to the introduction of new enforcement powers for councils and accredited certifiers and new critical stage inspections. These legislative changes were reported in the Board's Bulletin in addition to being incorporated into the Board's information sheets, guidelines and practice notes as contained on the website.

Some of the legislative changes, which were targeted for implementation this year, have not yet commenced.

In view of the above, the Board has determined that the Accredited Certifiers: Legislative Requirements CPD Course for 2009 will not be held and that no additional course will need to be undertaken or completed in its place.
