Code of conduct for accredited certifiers
The code of conduct for accredited certifiers is set out in Schedule 4 of the accreditation scheme. The code presents the principles to guide the behaviour of, and the standards of conduct and professionalism expected from, accredited certifiers when performing certification functions. It contains 13 requirements to which certifiers must adhere. Certifiers who breach the code of conduct can be found guilty of unsatisfactory professional conduct or professional misconduct under the Building Professionals Act 2005. Further, the Board may refuse to renew a certifier's accreditation where they have breached the code. For guidance on the requirements in the code: Code of conduct: a guide, revised March 2007.
