Events and News - June 2009
CPD - Professional Practice 2009 All accredited certifiers will be required to complete training on ethics in relation to their role as accredited certifiers as part of the Board's 2009 continuing professional development program. The course will be one day in length, commencing in July. For information on the course go to flyer Notification of complaints to accredited certifiers The Board recently amended its process for the notification of accredited certifiers of complaints received about their conduct. Accredited certifiers are now notified immediately upon the receipt of a complaint against them. Previously the Board notified certifiers of a complaint against them upon written clarification of the allegation(s) with the complainant. This was to ensure that complainants, certifiers and the Board were clear on the matters at issue. The changed process has been adopted to encourage certifiers, where possible, to immediately address the concerns raised in the complaint and/or to promote conciliation of complaints with the complainant. Certifiers are still given a separate opportunity to respond to the complaints after they have been clarified with the complainant.
Information Sheet - `Compliance with BASIX: the certifier's role' A new information sheet (Information Sheet No. 18) has been prepared entitled `Compliance with BASIX: the certifier's role.' Amongst other things, the information sheet identifies what BASIX commitments need to be identified at the various stages of the building approval process and the construction phase. All certifying authorities should familiarise themselves with the contents of the Information Sheet to ensure that they complying with legislative requirements. The Information Sheet can be accessed here.
