Background to the reforms
The NSW Parliament has passed landmark reforms which will deliver a more efficient and transparent planning system for NSW. On 15 May 2008, three Planning Reform Bills were tabled in the NSW Parliament. The Bills are the Environmental Planning and Assessment Amendment Bill 2008, Building Professionals Amendment Bill 2008 and Strata Management Legislation Amendment Bill 2008. The tabling of the Bills followed a lengthy consultation process, including the release of draft exposure Bills. Further information about the planning reforms is available from the Department of Planning website. Some provisions within the Amendment Bills have commenced. See Implementation of reforms.
