Are new buildings sufficiently resilient to extreme weather?

The Australian Building Codes Board has released the discussion paper Resilience of Buildings to Extreme Weather Events for comment by 1 July 2014.

Devastating winds, floods and bushfires have destroyed or damaged buildings in many parts of Australia. The National Construction Code covers a range of extreme weather events but doesn’t currently cover hail, storm tide or heat stress.
