The campaign highlights the role builders and developers can have in improving water quality and protecting the environment by managing building sites and reporting pollution incidents. Almost two thirds of Sydney are being targeted in the current campaign which started on 1 November.
Certifiers are encouraged to discuss the campaign with their clients and with builders to help ensure sediment and erosion control measures are installed and maintained on site.
This month’s campaign will build on the last compliance blitz in May 2017, where 439 sites were inspected across 11 council areas in the Parramatta River catchment. Only 51% of sites were compliant and $433,140 in fines were issued.
